Since my relatively recent introduction to the wondrous world of blogging I am constantly amazed at how much really excellent work is going on out there. It restores one’s faith in the human race to see the beauty, sensitivity, quality and sense of joy that abounds in so many individual and collective’ efforts. Well done all! There may also be a lot of questionable stuff, but I am choosing to ignore it in hope it will eventually go away.
In view of the recent Thanksgiving holiday, which has always been one of my personal favorites, I wanted to share a couple of great foodie links here. Hestia is the unsung goddess of home and hearth, the matron of the board, so in her honor I thought I would highlight some exceptional ladies here.
The Salvation Sisters : Michelle, Linda and Juliette are the Three Graces of good living! Three very unique personalities, each with her own original voice, combine their experience, efforts and energies to achieve an awesome result. You are truly missing something if you have not visited this blog! Their passion for delighting the senses is contagious and they view food and beverages as they should be seen – sensual orchestrations that transcend the palate to engage your entire being!
The Dancing Bear Cafe & Gifts : Chef Katie Crutchfield is an amazingly creative lady in many disciplines but in the kitchen she ROCKS! I first discovered her talent at her legendary Sunday dinners that became a must while she was still living in Santa Barbara. I had the pleasure and privilege to be on the guest list and after a feisty game of Mah Jong with hot-buttered-rum we would tuck into an exciting culinary adventure that Jules Verne himself would envy! Now, how a girl from the Pacific coast came to find her home in the Midwest is just one of the sweet mysteries of life. I was there when she literally “bought the farm” in 1994, and the way she has transformed that property is one more testimony to her many talents.
Fiddlehead Cellars : Any great meal deserves a great wine! Vintner Kathy Joseph is yet another creative genius in my book. The subtly playful blending of her Sauvignon Blanc and the nurturing TLC she showers over her Pinot Noir result in wines that are both fun and complex, refreshingly original yet deeply satisfying to the palate. Her personal taste and style are inherent in every bottle of Fiddlehead, right to the last delicious drop!
It may seem that there is a bit of a feminist bent to this post… well can I help it if there are so many talented women out their whose praises should be sung? I would love to hear about other great culinary talents and venues. Let’s share the wealth!
